One of the many ways we support you at Write Well University is through our writing coaching services. Dawn Goldberg, our own Chief Writing Officer, offers coaching to get you through writing hurdles, hold you accountable, and champion your successes.

This is so much more than your traditional coaching services. It's not life coaching, and it's not business coaching. Instead, it's a concept revolving around your specific writing issues, suggestions and exercises, objective feedback, and support.

What can I do with Dawn as my writing coach?

  • Overcome your personal writing challenges. Do you have trouble conveying your meaning through your writing? Are there grammatical issues you just can't get a handle on? Do you feel fairly confident with your writing, but you need help in a specific area, say, conclusions? Dawn can help guide you through your particular writing obstacles.
  • Have an objective, supportive champion for your writing. Dawn edits your work and provides feedback. Whether your particular issue is grammar or style, she'll offer feedback in all areas to help you become a polished, well-rounded writer.
  • Create a life around writing. Do you want to write, but yet you always find time to do anything else but write? Does your life feel too full to fit writing in? With Dawn's help, you can design your life so that writing is an integral part of your life, not just an afterthought.
  • Set goals. Whether it's an end goal or intermediate milestones, Dawn works with you to create manageable, reasonable goals for your writing.
  • Be held accountable. How many times have you thought about writing and don't do it? Dawn is there as a supportive coach who lovingly pushes you to the goals you've set.
  • Manifest your inner self into your daily life - through words. Why do you want to write? Is it to be known? Is it to get a message across? Dawn's soul purpose is to do just that, for herself and for you.

How does it work?

First, you'll want to have a conversation with Dawn about your needs and whether she can help you. You'll both determine if you're a fit for each other.

Second, if you both are raring to go, you'll send Dawn a current writing sample and set up an initial intake session. This is the space where the two of you talk about your writing purpose, challenges, strengths, and goals.

Third, the two of you will meet twice a month for forty-five minutes each session. During this time, you'll share with Dawn any writing issues that have come up, and the two of you will create a plan for resolving them. Dawn may assign you reading or exercises specific to your needs and challenges. As with the entire coaching relationship, nothing is mandatory. You can agree, disagree, or negotiate; this is a safe relationship that supports and nurtures you, and sometimes pushes you, but you always have a choice in the matter.

Finally, your coaching arrangement provides for Dawn's evaluation of one writing piece (up to four pages) per week.

The fee is $450 per month.

How do I get started?

You'll want to have that conversation with Dawn! Send her an email at to set up a time for the two of you to chat.

Why coach with Dawn?

She draws upon years of experience in writing, teaching, and training, from all levels: English grammar and literature in the classroom, English as a second language, and even in a literacy program for adults.

She has been writing almost her entire life, from elementary school to right now. She has researched writing, the structure of language, and how words work and fit together.

She knows what it's like to struggle to write. Dawn grapples with many of the same things you do: how to design writing into your life, how to commit to writing when there are so many other things to do, and how to conquer those voices of self-doubt and criticism.

She's sought after as a writing expert for publishing and networking conferences, and she speaks about writing and creativity to audiences of all sizes. She knows this stuff like the back of her hand (her writing hand, that is).

She can step back and see the overall message of a piece as well hone in on the individual elements that make up that message. She can see what works and what doesn't.

What can you do with a companion on your side?
