Write Well University started, as many things do, as a spontaneous idea seemingly out of nothing. For several years, Dawn Goldberg had been helping clients in her virtual assistance practice to present themselves and their businesses successfully to the world. Dawn wrote, edited, tested, and proofread thousands of words, from emails to marketing campaigns. In addition, as Chief Operating Officer of AssistU, Dawn saw firsthand the struggles people had communicating their needs to others.

That spontaneous idea started out as "Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could help people overcome their problems in writing, as well as lack of confidence, in order to become stronger writers?"

We decided it would be wonderful.

And so the idea of Write Well University was born.

In 2006, the first Writing Essentials Program was delivered, and another full class soon followed. By and by, we created additional programs and services to help individuals improve their writing skills. With programs and coaching, Write Well University participants are supported in every facet of writing, including basic grammar and mechanics, style, and the accountability that keeps them writing.

In 2009, Write Well U acquired AuthorSmart, and provided introductory, intermediate, and mastery level courses to help authors at any point in their writing and publishing journeys.

While we add new programs, along with our foundational series on writing and publishing, our core values remain the same. Take a look at our core values in the right sidebar to get a feel for what we do and what we believe in.

Our core values

We are passionate about words and the power they have when put together in a certain way.

We understand the challenges in conveying in words what we really mean.

We know that writing affects every area of our lives, including writing emails and letters, putting together company reports, and creative writing.

We have faith in words as a tool to express our authentic selves.

We do not believe that writing has to be a solitary journey, and we know that support, accountability, a safe environment, and structure are the keys to a successful author.
